Time is Love

One of the things I miss most about having time in the car is music.  I had a 30 to 45 minute commute when I worked and would listen to music the whole way home.   Lately I've been listening to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Jingle Bell Rock" on repeat per the request of the potty training toddler.  What the potty training toddler wants the potty training toddler gets.  At least where music is involved.

I had the radio on in the car today on the way to the Y and heard a new song.  I can usually tell within a moment or two if it is a song that is going to be one I'm going to love.  And luckily I found one!   The melody was nice, it was easy to sing with and after hearing it the first time I liked it a lot!

As I drove home I couldn't help but think about the lyrics.  The song is called Time is Love.  It's basically about a guy who wants to get home to his girl.  He knows that he'd rather spend his time with her than doing other things.

The lyrics read

"but anything I gotta get done,
it can get done some other time

time is love, gotta run
love to hang longer,
but i got someone who waits
waits for me and right now
she's where i need to be
time is love, gotta run"

I think one of the reasons I love music so much is I find it convicting.  It speaks to me not only because it's beautiful but because it really says something.  And man oh man was/is this song convicting for me.

Time is Love.

How am I spending my time?  How often am I telling my children or my husband, "just a moment" or "mommy needs some alone time".  How often am I choosing my blog or facebook or anything else over reading my Bible.  Am I taking the time to check in with friends and family that I love so much?  What on earth am I doing with all of my time!?!

Matthew 6:21 says

For where your heart is, there your treasure will be also.

My time is my treasure.  Life is so short.  The days are so precious.

I'm determined that my sweet boys, my husband and my Savior will receive the treasure of my time this year!

  1. ouch. this post hurt me....you just threw some truth up in my business. "just a minute" is a phrase WAY to oten spoken in my house and i'm not even going to say how long it's been since i've been in the Word.
